The Finstyle Way
No mystery, no ambush. Five clear stages from first call to lifelong partnership, with the fees on the table from day one.
Good financial advice isn't a single meeting, and it definitely isn't a product pitch. It's a sequence: a quick call to check we're a fit, meetings to understand you properly, careful research, advice in writing, execution we handle for you, and a partnership we keep honest every year after.
That sequence is why we can tell you, before you've committed to anything, exactly what happens next and what it costs. There's no invoice that surprises you, and no stage you're locked into before you've said yes to it.
Below is the whole journey, start to finish: the five stages, what each one gives you, and what it costs where a cost applies.
The five stages
Click a stage to see what happens, how long it takes, and what it costs.
What happens
A short introductory call to get a feel for each other and decide whether we're the right firm for you, and whether you're the right fit for us. We're selective, because our aim is to make a meaningful difference, not a marginal one.
How long
5–10 minutes, by phone.
What you'll walk away with
A clear sense of whether it's worth going further, and if we can genuinely help, an invitation to the next stage.
What it costs
Nothing. The Clarity Call is free.
What happens
A deep conversation about your situation: your goals, values and what you want life to look like. Beforehand, you can complete a secure digital fact-find in your Wealth Portal and share whatever you're comfortable with.
How long
60–90 minutes, at Gate 8 or by video.
What you'll walk away with
Confidence that we understand where you are and where you want to be: the gap our advice exists to close.
What it costs
A one-off $440 Discovery & Engagement Fee covers this meeting and your Engagement Meeting, and is fully credited against your Statement of Advice fee if you proceed.
What happens
Between Discovery and this meeting we gather the detail that matters (super, investments, tax and income, insurance and estate documents) and analyse your position, always with your consent and only what's relevant. Then we meet to confirm everything, talk through the strategies that could suit you, agree exactly what your advice will and won't cover, discuss your attitude to risk, and put a fixed price on your Statement of Advice.
How long
A week or two of analysis on our side, then a 60–90 minute meeting.
What you'll walk away with
A clear, agreed scope and a fixed SoA quote, from $6,600, plus our ongoing service options. Engaging us for advice never commits you to an ongoing relationship.
What it costs
Included in your $440 Discovery & Engagement Fee.
What happens
Once you engage us, we build your strategy (detailed analysis, modelling the alternatives, weighing opportunities and risks) and prepare your personalised Statement of Advice. We then present it in a dedicated meeting, explaining every recommendation, how it helps achieve your goals, and the benefits, risks and trade-offs, until it's completely clear.
How long
A few weeks to prepare, then presented over 60–120 minutes.
What you'll walk away with
Complete clarity on your plan and the reasoning behind every recommendation, to decide on in your own time.
What it costs
Your Statement of Advice fee, from $6,600, less the $440 already paid. This fee is for the advice itself.
What happens
If you decide to go ahead, you join us on an ongoing service agreement and we get to work: obtaining your authority and managing as much of the execution as possible on your behalf. Once the bulk is done, we hold a post-implementation review, by meeting or call, to confirm your new position and make sure you feel confident.
How long
Implementation varies by strategy, typically a few weeks, followed by your review.
What you'll walk away with
Your strategy in place, the execution risk carried by us, and confidence your new financial position is exactly as intended.
What it costs
Covered by your ongoing service agreement, from $6,600 a year. We only implement for clients who continue with us on an ongoing basis; the advice fee pays for the advice alone.
All fees above are from the current Financial Services Guide. Your Engagement Meeting always confirms the exact cost in writing before you commit to anything, and the $440 is credited against your advice fee if you proceed.
What we'll ask of you
The best outcomes come from clients who engage with the process, not just the outcome.
Come with the real numbers, not the tidy version. We can only advise on what we can see.
Tell us what you're actually worried about, not just what you think we want to hear.
Make time for the Discovery and Engagement meetings; this is where the plan gets shaped.
Ask the awkward questions. We'd rather you push back at the Clarity Call than regret it at Implementation.
Show up to your annual review. A plan only works if we keep adjusting it with you.
Tell us when life changes. We can't plan around a job change, inheritance or sale we don't know about.
The ongoing partnership
Advice doesn't stop at Implementation. It becomes an ongoing partnership, and one we've built our firm to sustain for the long term. Here's the rhythm of a typical year together.
Annual · required
A full sit-down to reassess your goals, position, performance and plan against what's changed, required for every ongoing client.
Quarterly · optional
Optional quarterly reviews. More frequent contact helps you stay on track and lets us catch opportunities early.
Always on
Unlimited access to our team through the year, and your Wealth Portal whenever you want it, not just at review time.
As life changes
An inheritance, a sale, a new job, a change of plan: we prepare fresh advice when life shifts, with any fees agreed first.
Common questions
The Clarity Call is free. To move to the Discovery and Engagement meetings there's a $440 Discovery & Engagement Fee, and it's fully credited against your advice fee if you proceed. Your Statement of Advice is from $6,600, and ongoing partnership is from $6,600 a year, both confirmed in writing before you commit to anything. Nothing is charged without your agreement first. See the full fees breakdown →
From your first call to Implementation is typically a few months, depending on the complexity of your situation. We'd rather take the time to get the strategy right than rush a plan you'll question later.
Then we'll tell you at the Clarity Call, at no cost to you. Not every prospective client is a fit for what we do, and we'd rather say so early than take on an engagement that doesn't serve you well.
